CABIN HAIR, DON’T CARE

Hair 4

I love clean hair, but I know it’s not always possible when I’m up at the cabin for a long weekend.  The mineral-rich water that most cabins have can make it a challenge to lather shampoo and even causes your hair to look flat, dry, and frizzy. If you get your hair colored, hard water can cause the color to discolor and fade very quickly.

I recently freshened my color with balayage specialist, Abby Shofner. You can find her on Instagram: @blondeluxe. First of all, I love balayage because it’s fun and gives my hair a ton of dimension. It keeps my roots healthy and ultimately, it’s low maintenance which is exactly what I need for my active lifestyle. Abby gave my hair the melty cool tone I wanted and needed. This is important because my hair had turned super brassy from all of the hard water exposure I’ve had this summer.

With determination, I decided no more brassy hair. I want to keep my cool new do looking fresh. One easy way to avoid the effects of hard water is using powder dry shampoo. Personally, I’ve had no luck with aerosol dry shampoos. My hair ends up greasy and doesn’t feel clean. But with Aveda’s shampure dry shampoo,  my hair can keep looking voluminous, clean, and vibrant for days because it:

  • Revives and refreshes my hair after being active outdoors
  • Absorb excess oil between shampooing (I’ve gone three to four days without shampooing and just body washing in the shower)
  • Smells amazing
  • And I avoid the hard water on my hair

Of course, if you live at a place with hard water full time, there are other solutions like getting a water softener and using products made for hard water. But if you’re just visiting the cabin for a weekend, powder dry shampoo is an easy, affordable solution.
