As the summer is winding down, we are trying to fit as many fun weekend trips as possible, especially family-friendly camping trips. That’s why we were so stoked when Visit Eau Claire invited us out for a weekend of Stoney Creek RV Resort camping and exploring Osseo, Wisconsin. It’s a campground we’ve always wanted to stay at just based on a quick Google search of “family-friendly camping in Wisconsin.”
Osseo is just a two hour drive from our home in the Twin Cities and just a half hour from Eau Claire. As a former Eau Clairian and Chippewa Valley news reporter, I’ve had my fair share of running around cities and towns including Osseo to interview people for stories. But this was our first time actually exploring the area and we are so glad we did!
If you’re looking for the perfect blend of small-town charm and delightful exploration, look no further than Osseo. This comprehensive guide takes you on a journey through Osseo’s picturesque city, highlighting must-visit local restaurants, unique shops, and captivating tourist spots. Plus, experience the ultimate comfort of staying at Stoney Creek RV Resort, where natural beauty meets modern amenities. Scroll through as we unravel the treasures of Osseo while relishing a relaxing retreat at Stoney Creek RV Resort.
Where We Stayed

Stoney Creek RV Resort is a family-run campground with over 160 RV campsites, tent sites, and cabin rentals. I can honestly say this is one of the best RV resorts in Wisconsin. We had a full hook-up campsite + all the best RV camping amenities. We are big fans of the one-acre swimming pond with wraparound sand beach. There are two WIBIT systems on the manmade swimming area which is basically an obstacle course, slide, climbing wall inflatable that kids and even adults can play on.
We also enjoyed the 18-hole mini golf course which the whole family got through with a lot of patience and time. There’s even a swimming pool with a toddler-friendly area that’s shallow with a small water slide, a fishing pond where we caught some little bluegills, and a skate park which Harlan and Juni both discovered is super fun to scooter around on.
And as if that’s not enough, there’s also a huge jumping pillow, playground, and a list of scheduled activities every day. There were foam parties, a meet and greet with the resort’s moose mascot Morie, Morie’s rock hunt, and many other themed-activities. Not mention, there’s also a huge laser tag field and arcade – activities I’m sure we will do when the kids are a little older. We will for sure be back at Stoney Creek RV Resort for years to come.

We had a huge rain storm during our camping trip and we were greeted with the most beautiful rainbow! And during the rain storm, we were able to order pizza through Stoney Creek’s online food ordering website or Toast Tab app. Just put your campsite number in the notes and they’ll deliver it directly to your camper. Pizza delivery to your RV – isn’t that unique?! It was so convenient and the pizza was one of the best we’ve ever had.

Pet the Softest Animals at Justorian Alpacas

Cuddle up with the cutest alpacas at Justorian Alpacas in Osseo. They have over 35 alpacas and three new babies that were recently born named Parker, Dutchess, and Lilibet. These alpacas are so sweet and soft. Petting them, sitting with them, and just hanging out with them felt so therapeutic. There’s an on-site farm store where they carry everything from clothing to hats, mittens, dolls, and other alpaca fur items. Justorian Alpacas is typically open from 12 – 5 p.m. on Sundays but you could also give them a call to schedule ahead of time (715-597-2229).
Places to Eat & Shop
Enjoy a Quick Breakfast at the Osseo Nickel Barn & Coffee Shop

Start your morning off with coffee, cinnamon rolls, and other delicious baked goods at the Osseo Nickel Barn & Coffee Shop. Our kids went for some Italian soda and I went for the flavored coffee of the day. It’s not just a coffee shop though. The building is an old red barn that also is home to a beautifully curated antique and consignment shop plus a retail store with local cheeses and other treats. The kids found the toy section full of vintage toys and each found a little truck that they loved.
Eat Award-Winning Pie at Norske Nook

Can’t leave Osseo without stopping by the Norske Nook. They Head over to Norske Nook for lunch and their famous pie! Enjoy great home cooking that “tastes like grandma’s” and enjoy their warm down-home hospitality. Harlan and I had a hard time deciding which pie we wanted to eat so we got all three we were eyeing. up including peach, cherry, and blueberry. We ended up buying an entire tin of blueberry pie to bring back to our campsite.
Grab a Brewski & Burger at Northwoods Brew Pub
We stopped by the outdoor patio at Northwoods Brew Pub for dinner and drinks. This is such a cool 100-year-old building that feels like an old cabin with a modern twist and high ceilings. They have 35 taps, cocktails, and a small but versatile food menu. I went with the Bacon Cheese Burger which is one of the seven most unique burgers in the state as named byTravel Wisconsin. It’s literally a slab of mac and cheese in a burger with bacon which was such an experience!

Woodfired Pizzas atFoster’s Fireside
On our way out of Osseo, we stopped for wood fired pizza in at Foster’s Fireside in Foster just north of Osseo. The kids shared one kids pizza which was plenty while we shared a huge pretzel, bruschetta, salad, and an Everything But the Kitchen Sink pizza (House Red Sauce, Wisconsin Cheese, Pepperoni, Sausage, Green Peppers, Black Olives, Fresh Mushrooms, Diced Onions). The blueberry mojito was also so refreshing and the mint leaves came from their garden out front. We want to come back for brunch next time!

Peruse & Shop at Gingham Goat
We stumbled across the cutest hole-in-the-wall shop called the Gingham Goat in Osseo. It’s right across the street from Norske Nook. This gift shop looks like it’s straight out of the Hobbit. Harlan and I loved roaming the little shop and wandering into the huge backward where there were more gifts and knick knacks.

Osseo is such a fun city with plenty to eat, see, and do. Staying at Stoney Creek RV Resort was such a treat. We spent a lot of time just hanging out at our campground which was full of fun family-friendly RV amenities. While there was much to enjoy onsite, we also thoroughly enjoyed exploring the charm of Osseo. The people were kind, the hospitality was welcoming, and we will for sure be back again. Be sure to add Osseo to your next Wisconsin adventure!
