3 WAYS TO SAVE MONEY WHILE RV CAMPING

Thank you to Camping World for being great sponsors and help making this post and video possible! All opinions are my own.

Camping season is in full swing and our family is making the most of it. From National Parks to county parks, private RV parks to the backcountry, there are many adventures to be had. RVing is definitely one of the most affordable ways to vacation, especially compared to the crazy flight prices and flight cancellations as of late. Still, bills can add up. From volatile gas prices to campground reservation fees and camping gear, it can be a lot. But there are ways to save – something I discovered as a Good Sam Club member through Camping World.

We recently stayed at an RV resort in southeastern Minnesota called the Old Barn Resort near Preston, Minnesota. It was quite the treat! We are not used to full hookups or extra amenities when we camp so you can bet I was delighted to find out Old Barn has awesome, clean, well-maintained campsites with fun activities at the resort. There’s an 18-hole golf course, restaurant and bar, three-season pool, yard games, tubing and fly fishing on the Root River, and biking on the Root River State Trail. The best part? This place is miraculously a mosquito-free campground (yup, you read that right). The Old Barn also happens to be a Good Sam RV Campground and as Good Sam members, we were able to save 10 percent on the regular nightly RV site rate. Woohoo!

If you’re looking to save money while camping, learning more about the Good Sam Club is a great place to start. I’m sharing three ways you can save money while RV camping with a Good Sam Club membership.

Save 10% on RV Parks & Campgrounds

The Old Barn Resort is just one of 2000+ Good Sam RV Parks & Campgrounds in the U.S. and Canada that Good Sam members can save 10 percent on. I love that these campgrounds are easy to research based on location and interests. There are destinations categorized for adventure seekers like Homer, Alaska where it’s the halibut fishing capital of the world or Proctor, Montana where there’s trout and salmon fishing, skiing, golf courses and nearby Glacier National Park. There are family-friendly campgrounds, campsites on lakes and rivers, campgrounds with resort entertainment and destinations that are perfect for winter snowbirds.

As a Good Sam member, I save 10 percent on regular nightly RV site rates at all of these campgrounds which has been an amazing perk this summer for all of our travels.

Save Money on Fuel

I am all about gas cards and fuel rewards programs. I belong to a handful of them including Good Sam which offers discounts beyond just gas at select Pilot Flying J locations:

  • Gas: 5 cents per gallon
  • Diesel: 8 cents per gallon
  • Gas & Diesel in Canada: 1 cents per liter
  • Dump Station Fees: Save $5
  • Propane: 10 cents per gallon

Save at Camping World

Whether you need new comfy camping chairs, a flat top grill for cooking up breakfast at your campsite, a water heater, or really specific RV parts, Good Sam members get additional savings at Camping World stores including free shipping online when spending over $69, additional specials and coupons, and an extended return policy.

Not only do you save on gear at Camping World, but you also save:

  • 15 percent savings on propane at select Camping World locations
  • Members-only specials
  • Free RV and boat dump privileges at select Camping Worlds
  • Annual Multi-Point RV Inspection at any Camping World location

This is our first year as Good Sam members and the membership makes sense for our family. We camp fairly often and lately, we’ve been looking for really specific amenities that can keep our kids entertained when we’re hanging out at the campground like a swimming pool, playground or bike trails. I love that you can search campgrounds by state, figure out where the closest Camping World is if I need to pickup some camping gear in-person, and save on fuel if driving past a Flying J. If you’re looking to save money while camping, be sure to sign up for a Good Sam Club membership online or ask about it the next time you’re at Camping World.

Happy Camping!
