This post is in partnership with Polaris, a company that has inspired me to explore the outdoors from a totally new perspective. All opinions are my own.
I know I’m not the only one who is glued to the phone these days. It’s tough to admit but I find myself opening up Instagram and my Gmail app every few minutes. And when I do catch myself, I’m like, “What are you doing?! Go do something productive. Go play with your kids. Go be outside!”
I know it’s partly due to the pandemic and the desire to connect with more people in the age of social distancing. But instead of trying to connect to the WiFi, I remind myself it’s better to connect with people I truly care about, nature, God’s creations, the outdoors.
For me, fishing brings me back to earth… or shall I say water? 🙂 Mom jokes aside, it puts me in a good mood, brings down my blood pressure, makes me excited, and I love being able to share that excitement of catching fish and being outdoors with my family and friends. And most recently, I explored the outdoors in a whole new way and learned why so many people are obsessed with off-road adventures!
It took me 32 years, but I can now say I have gone off-roading. Thank you, Polaris for inviting me out to check out one of their Polaris Adventures locations, ERX Motor Park in Elk River, Minnesota. It was such a rush riding through the dirt trails surrounded by tall trees and northwoods landscape. Polaris Adventures gave me access to the latest Polaris RZR side-by-side, safety gear, and gave me the lowdown on how to drive the RZR. You’d never know the trail system was so close to the Twin Cities.
This post comes just in time for National Get Outdoors Day which is on June 12. I’m teaming up with Polaris, a global leader known for helping people find possibilities outside for more than 65 years, and we are encouraging everyone to reconnect with the great outdoors, THINK OUTSIDE, and become an #OFFLINER for the day.
As part of the campaign, Polaris is giving away five Polaris Adventures experiences, just like the one I did! You’d be able to go on an off-road excursion on a Polaris RZR like me or maybe a scenic cruise in a Polaris Slingshot. This is a fun, new way to try something adventurous outdoors and such a cool experience for those of us new to riding and driving adventure vehicles.
To enter, all you have to do is pledge to go offline and connect with the outdoors. You can enter now through June 30th at Polaris.com/ThinkOutside. For a chance to be featured on Polaris’ social channels, share your experience by using the hashtag #OFFLINER or #THINKOUTSIDE.
I hope you join me as I make an effort in putting down the electronics and getting outside. You don’t have to do the most adventurous thing out there. Just spend time doing what you love outdoors, whether it’s taking your dog for a walk, going to the playground with your kids, taking a walk around the lake, or if you’re like me — going to the cabin and sitting at the dock to fish. Simply get back to nature.
Thank you to Polaris for sponsoring this post.
