It’s April and there’s still at least a foot of snow piled up in my yard. Typical. I say that while shaking my head with a smile. “Minnesnowta” lives up to its name as the “bold north.” Look at how many times this state ends up on the list of top coldest places in the U.S.:
1. Fairbanks, Alaska
2. Grand Forks, North Dakota
3. Fargo, North Dakota
4. Williston, North Dakota
5. Duluth, Minnesota
6. Aberdeen, South Dakota
7. St. Cloud, Minnesota
8. Bismarck, North Dakota
9. Marquette, Michigan
10. Huron, South Dakota
11. Sioux Falls, South Dakota
12. Minneapolis-St.Paul, Minnesota
13. Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan
14. Rochester, Minnesota
15. La Crosse, Wisconsin
Even though meteorological spring is here, we northerners are wise beyond our seasons and know not to put away the parka and boots — and maybe also some witty attire.
I recently teamed up with Don’t Mess with Minnesota Please to design some rad print shirts including one that undoubtedly fits the current state of our cold state.
“As the seasons change, I find more reasons to love Minnesota’s great outdoors. Whether you’re snowshoeing through the state parks and trails, canoeing through the BWCA, or walking around your local lake, I hope you treat yourself to the Land of 10,000 Lakes experience. These designs were inspired by all the reasons I love this place.”

It’s a brand new business in Minnesota and the company is all about celebrating this statement. Even their name is passive aggressive. Brian and Amanda are the founders of Don’t Mess with Minnesota Please. On their website, they say, “It’s a bold statement with a little Minnesota Nice thrown in. We’re here to protect Minnesota’s natural beauty and will do whatever it takes- if that’s okay with you.”
A portion of all profits goes to causes that support protecting Minnesota and its natural resources.
10% of the proceeds from the Girl of 10,000 Lakes designs will go to Friends of the Boundary Waters — one of my favorite causes: protecting and preserving the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
Hope you will take a moment to see some of my designs as well as my favorites from their collection. Click on the images to shop!
